There, at our core is a Light, a Presence, an undiscovered Consciousness that is our essential nature.
Jesus called it ‘the Kingdom of Heaven within,’ western mystics call it ‘Christ Consciousness.’ The Buddha called it 'Emptiness,' our 'Buddha Nature.' The Rishis of the Vedas called it ‘Atman.’ Sufis refer to it as ‘the Heart of hearts,’ and Yogis simply call it the ‘Self.’
It is the absence of felt connection to this Treasure that is the source of our suffering. It is the realization of this Inner Treasure as our true nature that is our salvation, and the ultimate purpose of everything that is happening in our lives. This is what the world needs now.
We have, by and large turned our back on God in western culture. This is not meant to be a criticism. We have done so unconsciously rejecting the old view of God propagated by religions that sought power and control — an external God of judgment and wrath, anthropomorphized by human minds in an attempt to make the Mystery knowable, and hopefully controllable. As human consciousness has evolved such an antiquated view of God as a long-bearded, fear inducing, judging, male super-entity out there somewhere has become less and less relevant. Rejecting such a god is actually a sign of our evolution. But to throw the baby out with the bath water has equally dire consequences.
There are rapidly increasing numbers of people, today, that are feeling a deep yearning for an authentic, relevant spirituality that speaks to the felt needs and struggles of being human. Inherent to that yearning is the Soul’s cry for connection to its Source, and it turns out that this Divine Source is not ‘out there’ somewhere, but resides, and awaits discovery deep in the heart of every being.
For many of us, that yearning, that cry for connection can be felt in every aspect of our lives, physically, emotionally, mentally, and relationally. The pain and heartache we feel in our lives is actually a homing beacon, calling us back to Love, and a life lived in conscious connection to Spirit, and to all of life. Our pain, anxiety, depression, and discontent is the invitation to go within, to learn to work with what needs to be healed and released so that we can come into union and communion with the Inner Treasure, our Source and True Self.
This is the work that I would like to do with you. Do you feel the calling to it
